The Summit e-bike comes with a Shimano Tourney 7-Speed freewheel cassette. (This is the cluster of sprockets on the rear wheel of the e-bike). This allows the rider to maintain a comfortable level of effort and pedalling speed throughout different terrains and gradients.
The gears can be changed via the shifter on the right handlebar. It works as a 'twist-shift'.
Do not attempt to change gears too quickly or when cycling uphill as doing so could cause the chain to fall off and the rider to lose control, which could result in serious injury. If the chain falls off, turn the e-bike off before fixing the chain. If you do not and the motor engages whilst you are attempting to replace the chain you could sustain injury.
